Baseboard continues to grow. In this update, we introduce three new features that further simplify working with work instructions: exporting work instructions as a PDF, capturing video frames as an image, and AI support directly in the application.
Export work instructions as PDF
Many organizations want a reliable backup of their work instructions in case the internet connection is lost. Therefore, it is now possible to export a released bill of process as a PDF file directly from the BOP editor.
The generated PDF contains, for each step, the work instruction text, the article list, the required tools, attached images, and the configured checks, including lower and upper limits. If a video is linked to a step, this is indicated by an icon and a corresponding URL. The layout follows the familiar format of the operator view: landscape, one step per page, with a cover page based on the product information.
This functionality is available via a similar button to the MBOM download. This ensures that every employee always has access to an up-to-date, complete version of the work instruction, even when no connection is available.
Creating stills from instructional videos
Videos are a powerful tool for capturing actions in a production process. However, there is sometimes a need for a single specific image, a still, to use as an illustration for a step. This is now possible: a camera button has been added to the video editor, allowing users to capture a frame at any time.
The captured still is automatically added to the step as an image attachment via the standard image adding workflow. This allows teams to combine the best of both worlds: the dynamics of a video and the clarity of a still image at precisely the right moment in the instruction.
AI support in the application
Baseboard now has a built-in AI assistant that is available directly within the application. Users can ask questions about how Baseboard works via text input, and the AI searches for the answer in Baseboard's knowledge base.
This lowers the barrier to quickly finding answers to questions about functionalities, settings, or working methods without having to leave the application. The AI assistant complements the existing helpdesk and knowledge base, offering users a quick first step in finding the right information.
Finally
With PDF export, the ability to create stills from videos, and AI support in the application, Baseboard takes another step forward. We continue working on a platform that makes setting up, managing, and consulting work processes in the manufacturing industry as smooth as possible.
